One of the biggest drug problems faced by teens is the use of alcohol. Many teens drink and find it cool to be drunk. About seventy percent of high school students have reported they have drank alcohol. They do not realize the danger they are putting themselves in.
Alcohol is not the only thing teenagers are abusing. Eight percent of teenagers smoke cigarettes every day and get addicted to nicotine. Thirty-eight percent of teenagers smoke marijuana, nineteen percent on a regular basis. Seven percent of teenagers have used cocaine. Teenagers are also experimenting with other substances to get a “high” feeling. Teenagers have reported using glue, aerosols, and other sprays as inhalants. They are cheap and easy to get. These products are inhaled and may cause death with the first use. Other teenage drug abuse facts state teenagers have also used ecstasy, crack, speed, LSD, and steroids. Teens are also using prescription drugs for the sole purpose of getting high.
